One of the apps available for our Gelato+ subscribers is the Product Personalization Tool. It allows you to empower your customers to easily personalize your designs and make unique products with a personal touch.
If you have a Shopify store, your customers will be able to make use of the Personalize Design button to launch an in-store editor to personalize their product directly during the purchase process.
Customers on Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, and BigCommerce can also create their very own personalized items. They will be able to access the editor for personalization via a link in an email after their order is submitted. Kindly note that the design editor might look slightly different when you are configuring your product in Gelato. You can read more about this workflow here.
Before starting to create items with this tool, be sure you have an active Gelato+ subscription.

You can also set up products so that it is possible for your customers to personalize text placeholders and upload their own images!
Q: How much do I have to pay to use this app?
A: The only cost is for your Gelato+ subscription (You can find out how much this will be in other currencies on this page). There is no additional charge or transaction fee when orders are placed.
Q: I published a product with the Product Personalization Tool to my Shopify store and in the Editor I cannot see the different images in the collection! (ie. color choices within)
A: For the best browsing experience, we recommend you and your end customers use Chrome. You can also try to browse in incognito mode, or disabling some or all of your browser extensions.
Q: Is there a better way to automate this process?
A: Yes! Under the Gelato+ Gold subscription, you can automate the process of the manual order workflow for personalized orders through the Automatic Order Processing feature. Just create your file, send it to Gelato, and we take care of the rest. You can subscribe to Gelato+ Gold here to try it out (30-day free trial available). This is also compatible with third-party Shopify personalization apps.
Q: Why are the Expand categories function not working for my new product created with the Product Personalization Tool?
A: The Expand Categories function is available for static designs and between certain products - we don’t support it with product personalization yet
Q: Is there a saved draft/save progress function when using the Product Personalizer Tool?
A: No, we currently don't have this function. What we can suggest is to save the item and deselect "Show product to store visitors" option on the product details page. You can return to edit the product at any time and publish it for your customers when you are ready.
